SERVPRO is Here to Help during this time of need

During this unprecedented time caused by the global pandemic of coronavirus, this is a reminder to our customers that we are specialists in cleaning services, and we adhere to the highest cleaning and sanitation standards

Specialized Training

We are prepared to clean and disinfect your business, according to protocols set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We have years of experience in dealing with biological contaminants, and we will go beyond the scope of work that regular janitorial staff perform on a daily basis.

The CDC encourages cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets and tables. Other spaces mentioned in the CDC’s guidance for commercial spaces include:

  • Kitchen/Food Areas
  • Bathrooms
  • Schools/Classrooms
  • Offices
  • Retail Spaces
  • Water Fountains
  • Shelving/Racks
  • Sales Counters
  • Carpets and Rugs
  • Stair Handrails
  • Elevator Cars
  • Playground Equipment
  • Fitness Equipment

Specialized Products

The CDC recommends usage of a labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar pathogens to the coronavirus. Multiple products in the SERVPRO product line carry the EPA-approved emerging pathogens claims. While there is currently no product tested against this particular strain of the coronavirus, we are following all guidelines as provided by the CDC and local authorities.

Understanding Global Harmonization System GHS for Product Labels

7/16/2019 (Permalink)

GHS hazard pitogram and related hazards

The restoration process can be a dirty business.  All in a days work a SERVPRO Technician can encounter grease, grime, black water, sewage and even biohazards and bodily fluids.  As part of our safety program we ensure that all of the products we use on the job site are properly labeled and marked according tot he GHS labeling system.

OSHA and other regulatory agencies require that SERVPRO offices keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on hand for all of the products we use during cleanup and restoration projects.

GHS was designed as an international labeling system to ensure that all consumers can easily identify potential hazards in solutions, cleaning products and chemicals.  The GHS is comprised of 9 symbols, the meaning of GHS symbols is as follows:

  • Corrosion: skin corrosion/burns, eye damage, corrosive to metals.

  • Environment: aquatic toxicity.

  • Exclamation: irritant (eye/skin), skin sensitizer, acute toxicity, narcotic effects, respiratory tract irritant, hazardous to ozone layer (non-mandatory).

  • Exploding Bomb: explosive, self-reactives, organic peroxides.

  • Flame: flammables, pryophorics, self-heating, emits flammable gas, self-reactives, organic-peroxides.

  • Flame Over Circle: oxidizing gases, oxidizing liquids, oxidizing solids.

  • Gas Cylinder: gases under pressure.

  • Health Hazard: carcinogen, mutagenicity, reproductive toxicity, respiratory sensitizer, target organ toxicity, aspiration toxicity.

  • Skull and Crossbones: acute toxicity (fetal or toxic).
